Komunumo
Komunumo is a sound installation piece that only works with a crowd's physical presence. The installation can be in any room with at least one entrance/exit but my setup consists of a single sensor, speakers, and photographs/prints hanging from the wall.
As more individuals fill the space, the audio playing from the PA system is changed to reflect the mass of the room. The more people there are in the room, the more active Komunumo sounds. Body count is the only factor taken into account. Everyone is equally responsible for each of the sounds playing.

These are images of mine made between 2019 and 2020.
They're all meant to hang on the walls of the installation space as photographic prints except the last two images -
an intaglio print and a lithographed, then screen-printed collage.
The images vary in print size, ranging from 8.5x11 inch prints to 4x3 foot prints.

These images show a 3D environment I made using Blender so I could simulate the sensor and installation room layout.
The infrared beams inside the sensor have to lay in front of the entrance/exit so the sensor is placed on the inside of the doorway. The model for the sensor is just a placeholder for whatever housing someone would like to put around the Arduino and infrared sensors.

These are images of the infrared sensor and components you would need to make one yourself.
Required material for building the IR sensor consist of
an Arduino micro-controller (I used an Adruino Uno),
two Infrared Sensors (easy to find on the internet),
and some wiring.

Included in the download are the Arduino Code, the Komunumo Max MSP Patcher preset with instructions and setup to play two pieces I made for the testing of the software/hardware.
